New Year, New Vibes: My First NYC Night Out of 2024

Hey there, beautiful souls! ✨

Can you believe we’re already diving into 2024? After the whirlwind that was the holiday season, I’ve been taking some time to reset and refocus on what matters most to me this year: balance, joy, and making time for the little moments of self-care that keep us going in this crazy city.

Starting Fresh with Some Much-Needed Nail TLC

If you watched the vlog above, you know my first stop was Sunday Studios’ new location in the Lower East Side. After months of back-to-back gel manicures for campaigns and events, my nails were practically begging for a break. Anyone else feel like their nails need a detox after the holidays? Just me?

There’s something so therapeutic about taking an hour out of your day just for yourself. No emails, no calls, just sitting in a peaceful space while someone transforms your sad, winter-beaten nails into little works of art. Sunday Studios has absolutely nailed (pun totally intended) the vibe—minimalist decor with those perfect lighting conditions that make you feel like you’re in a magazine spread.

What I love most about places like this is how they’ve elevated something as simple as a manicure into a full sensory experience. It’s not just about the end result; it’s about taking that pause in your day to breathe and reset. In a city that never stops moving, these moments are precious.

New Year, New Beauty Launches

After giving my nails some much-needed attention, I headed to my first event of 2024—a cocktail night at the New Museum with Paula’s Choice. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m not one to partner with brands I don’t genuinely love, and Paula’s Choice has been a staple in my skincare routine for years.

There’s something so energizing about beauty events in January. Everyone’s still riding that «new year, new me» wave, and the conversations are filled with optimism and fresh starts. Plus, after spending most of December bundled up in oversized sweaters and barely leaving my apartment, it felt amazing to put on real clothes and interact with humans who aren’t delivery people.

The New Museum was the perfect backdrop for the launch—modern, sleek, and just the right amount of pretentious (kidding… sort of). What I appreciate most about Paula’s Choice is their commitment to science-backed skincare. In an industry flooded with gimmicks and empty promises, their no-nonsense approach to creating products that actually work is refreshing.

The Magic of Winter Nights in NYC

Even though the event wrapped up relatively early, there’s something magical about winter nights in New York. By 5 PM, the sun has already set, the city lights are twinkling, and every street corner looks like it could be a scene from a movie. Despite the biting cold that makes your face hurt and the slush puddles that inevitably ruin at least one pair of boots each winter, these early evenings have their own charm.

Walking through Lower Manhattan after the event, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for these little pockets of joy and connection in a city that can sometimes feel overwhelming. There’s a certain energy that comes with the start of a new year—a collective deep breath before we all dive back into the hustle.

Looking Ahead to 2024

This year, I’m committed to sharing more of these moments with you all—the polished and the messy, the extraordinary and the mundane. New York City has a way of surprising you just when you think you’ve seen it all, and I can’t wait to document the journey.

Whether you’re a fellow New Yorker navigating the subway delays and $7 lattes alongside me, or you’re tuning in from somewhere across the globe, I hope these vlogs and posts give you a little taste of what it’s like to build a life in this beautiful chaos.

So here’s to 2024—to getting our nails done when we need a break, to saying yes to new experiences, and to finding beauty in the everyday. I hope you’ll stick around for the adventure.

What are your intentions for the new year? Are you leaning into self-care or challenging yourself to try new things? Drop a comment below—I’d love to hear what you’re looking forward to in 2024!

Until next time, Flor 💖
