Hi friends!
Welcome to another little slice of life in New York City. This one is full of those small but beautiful things that make life feel soft and sparkly again—think: getting a piercing I’ve been dreaming about for years, finally making time for a facial after way too long, brunch at one of my all-time favorite spots, and an unexpectedly magical snow day in Central Park.
In case you missed it, here’s the full vlog where I take you along for everything:

So let’s rewind to Friday morning… 🌤
✨ A Little Sparkle: Getting New Piercings at Rowan
I started the day on the Upper East Side with a visit to Rowan, a piercing studio I’ve been following for a while. They invited me in to get my ears pierced, and I was genuinely so excited—it’s something I’ve been meaning to do forever, but never quite got around to. You know those little things that feel like a treat and a small form of self-expression? That’s what this felt like.
The studio itself is super cute—clean, bright, and welcoming. They offer tons of jewelry options, and what really stood out to me is that all piercings are done by certified nurses. As a mom, I love that. It makes the experience feel both fun and safe—especially if you’re thinking of taking your kids or younger siblings. And if you’re a spontaneous type, they take walk-ins too (not just appointments!), which is rare and amazing in NYC.
Let me know if you ever go—I want to see your piercings!
☁️ Skin Reset: A Facial at Mario Badescu
After my piercing high (and a coffee stop, of course), I headed to the Mario Badescu Salon—also on the Upper East Side—for my first professional facial in years. Like… pre-pandemic years. 😅
I’m usually pretty consistent with my skincare at home, but it felt so good to have a professional look at my skin, give it a deep clean, and just reset everything. The esthetician was so kind, and the entire place had that old-school NYC charm. My skin was glowing when I left—and they even sent me home with some goodies to keep the glow going.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area and your skin needs a little extra love.
🥐 Brunch + Snow Days
Fast forward to Saturday. The weather totally switched on us—classic spring transition vibes. But that didn’t stop me from having brunch with my cousin who was visiting. We went to Jack’s Wife Freda, which is hands down one of my favorite brunch spots in NYC. I’ve been going for 6+ years and it never disappoints. The Mediterranean breakfast + lemonade combo is my go-to. It’s simple and so good.
After brunch, I met up with a friend who was visiting just in time for a surprise snow day. All she wanted to do was play in the snow at Central Park, and the universe delivered. We took Oreo and walked around, and honestly? It was perfect. The snow was falling, the park was empty, and it felt like we had the whole city to ourselves. Those are the kinds of NYC moments I live for.
🗽 Sunday Reflections + The Summit
On Sunday, I wrapped up the weekend with a trip to Summit One Vanderbilt—one of NYC’s newer observatories. I’m usually not a big tourist attraction person, but this one? Totally worth it. The views are breathtaking, and the whole experience feels immersive and futuristic in the coolest way. (Also, mirror floors—just trust me and don’t wear a short skirt. 😅)
I ended the vlog waiting for the subway, feeling a little tired, a little inspired, and very grateful. This city can be chaotic and messy, but it’s also full of magic if you pay attention. Sometimes that magic looks like a snowy walk in Central Park. Sometimes it’s a piercing you’ve been dreaming about for years. Sometimes it’s just a damn good brunch.
If you watched the vlog, let me know what your favorite part was!
And if you’re in or around NYC, I’d love to know your favorite hidden gems—places you go when you need to feel like yourself again.
Until next time,
Flor.
