A Summer Vlog in NYC: Dresses, Picnics, and a Glowy Skincare Haul

Hey hey! Welcome back to the blog. It’s been a little while since my last vlog post, and if you watched the video I shared before this one, you probably know why — nothing major, just a couple of busy, messy, real-life weeks. But now we’re back, it’s July, and New York City is officially in full summer mode.

Let me be very honest with you for a second: I am not a summer girly. I thrive in winter. I love snow, cozy layers, oversized scarves, hot drinks, and just bundling up in general. But summer in NYC? It’s chaotic, alive, sweaty, and packed with energy in a way no other season is. The city feels like it’s pulsing. You can’t escape it — and part of me doesn’t really want to. Even if I’m counting the days until fall. 😅

This vlog takes you along with me for a pretty fun day: I got dressed in one of my favorite summer staples (a long, breezy dress), headed to the Upper West Side, and joined a skincare picnic in Central Park hosted by Mario Badescu — a brand I’ve genuinely loved and used for years. Plus, I ended up coming home with a few goodies I wanted to show you.

But let’s rewind a little…

Learning to Love Summer (Okay, Tolerate It)

If you’re like me — a certified winter fan — you probably also struggle with what to wear when the temps start creeping up. Shorts and tiny skirts just aren’t my thing. I feel exposed, uncomfortable, and like I’m constantly adjusting something. A few years ago, I realized that long, flowy dresses are my ultimate warm-weather hack.

They’re breathable, stylish, easy to throw on, and they make you feel put-together without trying too hard. I’ve slowly been building a little summer capsule wardrobe made entirely of dresses like that. In this vlog, I’m wearing a new white one that I love — but I also rotate a soft blue, a lime green, a classic black, a bright orange one I first wore while I was pregnant, and a balloon-y white one you might’ve seen in past vlogs.

If you’re on the struggle bus with summer dressing, try a few long dresses. I promise they’re game-changers.

A Picnic with Mario Badescu in Central Park

So this week, I was invited to a picnic in Central Park with Mario Badescu — yes, the brand that makes that iconic drying lotion (if you know, you know). It was such a sweet and chill event, and after spending a few weeks in Argentina, it felt so good to be back in the city and seeing people again.

I vlogged the whole thing, of course — you can watch it here if you haven’t already:

A Quick Event Haul: Skincare, Tools & Summer Nails

Okay, now for the fun part — the little haul from the event! I love discovering new products, and this time I got a mix of skincare, makeup tools, and beauty accessories:

  • Falsies from KISS or Impress – I never really wear false lashes (too much effort for me), but these come pre-glued, which makes them super beginner-friendly.
  • Brushes + Sponges from EcoTools – I’m always down for good-quality tools that are also eco-conscious.
  • Summer-ready press-on nails – Floral, French, and cute as ever. Ideal for lazy girl summer manicures.
  • Glow Toner + Dew Drops by Mario Badescu – I’ve used their toners for years (witch hazel is a staple in my cabinet), but I’m excited to try this more hydrating one, especially once the weather cools.
  • Claw clip – This one’s bigger than any I currently own. Perfect for getting all my hair up and off my neck.
  • Reusable cotton pads – I’ve been using and loving these for six or seven years. If you haven’t made the switch yet, it’s worth it — better for your skin and the planet.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I sometimes send little beauty bundles to people who are always commenting and interacting. So who knows? Some of these might end up in a giveaway soon. 💌

What’s Next

Summer in NYC means event season is just getting started, and I’ve got a few more coming up that I’ll definitely be vlogging — from product launches to cozy cafe hangs and spontaneous city strolls. I’m trying to balance real-life rest with content creation, which is always a dance, but I feel good about getting back into the groove.

If you liked this short vlog-style peek into my day, let me know! I love filming these and bringing you along — it makes me feel like we’re hanging out even when I’m just walking around by myself with my camera.

And if you’re not subscribed yet, you know what to do. 🛎️✨

Thanks for reading — and watching. See you in the next one.

xx,

Flor.
