There’s something about the rhythm of summer in New York City that makes everything feel a little more magical—and a little more chaotic (hello, DMV). In this vlog, I’m taking you along for a few days in my life here in NYC, from Fourth of July fireworks to finally tackling something we’ve been putting off for years, to my first Yankees game since 2019 (!!) and of course, a little hair glow-up because… priorities.
If you want to come along for the ride, you can watch the vlog right here 👇
Let’s talk hair first, shall we?
Okay, yes, the sun was blinding me and I probably should’ve waited for a better lighting moment, but I couldn’t NOT show you my hair right away. I just stepped out of Fourteenjay, where Deanna worked her magic with the color and Sean gave me a fresh cut. The result? A more reddish-blondish tone that I’m honestly obsessed with—it just feels summery, glowy, and very me right now.
If you’ve been around for a while, you know I’m a big believer in small changes that make you feel like a brand-new person, and this was that moment. I’ll be showing you more of it in the upcoming days (because let’s be honest, when your hair looks this good, you document it every chance you get).
A Fourth of July to remember
This year’s Fourth of July fireworks felt extra special. When we moved to our current apartment, we hoped we’d have a decent view of the Macy’s fireworks over the East River—and wow, it did not disappoint. We had the most stunning panoramic view of the boats, the lights, the city skyline… It was giving “main character” energy in the best way.
There’s something very NYC about watching the skyline light up while you’re barefoot in your living room with a glass of wine. You’re not surrounded by crowds, but you’re still right in the middle of it all.
DMV Diaries: We finally got our permits 😅
Okay, I know “DMV adventure” isn’t exactly vlog-worthy on the surface, but hear me out—this has been a long time coming.
I’ve had my driver’s license from Argentina for over 16 years (yep, that makes me feel ancient), but now that we’re more rooted in NYC, it was time to finally go through the process of getting a U.S. license. We went to the DMV, took the permit test, and both passed! The process was shockingly smooth.
What’s funny is that I’ve been driving stick shift (manual!) my whole life—something most Americans don’t really do—so I feel like I’ve been over-prepared for this. But still, having the official papers here feels like a real milestone. Stay tuned for when we actually take the road test… fingers crossed!
Yankee Stadium Heatwave: Worth it? Always.
Okay, so let’s address the sweat first. It was 31°C (that’s almost 90°F for my fellow Celsius-to-Fahrenheit confused friends), and the sun was brutal. But I hadn’t been to a Yankees game since 2019, and not even the hottest day of the year could keep me away.
I’m not what you’d call a sports junkie, but baseball games? I get so into it. The energy, the food, the music, the drama—it’s just fun. And being in that stadium again after three years made me realize how much I missed it. There’s something about live sports that brings people together in a way nothing else really does.
Also: stadium hot dogs? Still elite.
Life lately — the highs, the heat, and the hair
One thing I love about vlogging is that it gives me an excuse to slow down and notice things. The little wins (like finally going to the DMV), the beautiful moments (like those fireworks), the exciting firsts (new hair, new permit, new game), and even the heat that makes you melt into your seat at Yankee Stadium—it all becomes part of this living time capsule I get to share with you.
I hope you enjoy this one. Let me know in the comments of the video or right here—what kind of “life lately” updates do you want to see more of? Beauty? NYC tips? More day-in-the-life? I’d love to know.
Until next time,
Flor 🤍
