Every year when the first crisp breeze rolls into New York, my brain immediately switches into full fall mode. The iced coffees turn hot, I start craving books and blankets, and—obviously—my closet gets a refresh. It’s finally fall here in the Northern Hemisphere, and I’m so excited to dive into what that means for our wardrobes this year.
In this post, I’m breaking down the top 7 fashion trends for Fall 2024—what I’ve seen on the runways, how I’m interpreting them in real life (because let’s be honest, not everything that walks the runway makes sense for walking around NYC), and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe whether you’re shopping new, secondhand, or just pulling pieces you already love.
But first! If you prefer watching to reading—or want to do both—here’s the video that goes along with this post. I cover all the trends, show you visuals, and give even more styling tips 👇

Okay, let’s get into it:
1. Wraps & Swaddles
Think cozy grandma but make it fashion. Oversized scarves and capes are making a serious comeback this year—and not just because they’re practical. Designers like Loewe and Toteme are showing pieces that are dramatic, enveloping, and often blanket-sized. It’s not just about warmth, it’s about drama.
Personally, I’m more of a scarf person than a cape girl—I like to move my arms! But if you’ve got a cape or poncho that makes you feel like a fall fairy, go for it. Bonus points if it’s vintage or handmade. And if you knit? This is your season.
2. Neck-Up Fashion
Last year it was all about statement sleeves—this year, it’s all about the collar. From ultra-tall turtlenecks to structured high-neck coats, the top half of your outfit is where the drama’s at. Designers like Burberry and Stella McCartney have some beautiful options on the runway this season.
I love this trend because it’s super wearable and it keeps you warm (practical girlies unite). Plus, a high-neck coat or oversized collar can elevate even the most casual outfit. This is definitely a trend you can invest in and wear for years.
3. Leather Everything (Especially Trenches)
Yes, we say this every fall, but leather is back—again. The twist this year? Full-length leather coats. Think Matrix meets downtown cool.
I’ve had my black leather trench for years, and every fall I get compliments on it. It just works. Dress it up with heeled boots or keep it casual with sneakers—it’s a power piece. Brown leather is also having a moment, so if that’s more your vibe, lean into it. And if you’re feeling extra sustainable, check your local vintage stores. Leather only gets better with age.
4. Faux Fur (Mob Wife Energy)
You’ve seen it all over TikTok—Mob Wife style is having a moment. And while the platforms may move on, faux fur is here to stay (thankfully, faux is the keyword).
Runways from Bottega Veneta to Sandy Liang are showing off coats with feathers, fur, and shearling. It’s cozy, it’s glam, and it’s a statement.
I have a faux fur coat from an H&M x Balmain collab that’s probably over a decade old and I still wear it constantly. If you want to be that girl strutting through fall like it’s your runway—this is your sign.
5. Country House Chic
Okay, hear me out—this one’s a bit niche but also so fun. Think: weekends at Balmoral Castle with the Queen (RIP), knits, long plaid skirts, and Wellington boots. Country House Chic is all about bringing English countryside style into your everyday city life.
I haven’t fully embraced this one yet (maybe this year?) but my friend Lessie absolutely nails it. It’s classic, cozy, and a little bit academic. And remember, you don’t need to go full cosplay—mix and match pieces that work for you. A plaid skirt here, a chunky knit there. Done.
6. Structured Boots
Boots are always a fall staple, but this year they’re getting even more serious. We’re talking tall, structured boots—almost pants-like in some cases. They’ve been all over the runways: Chanel, Prada, Hermès.
These are practical (especially if you live somewhere cold) but also so stylish. They pair perfectly with long skirts, leather trenches, faux fur coats… basically every trend on this list. Invest in a pair you love and wear them into winter and beyond.
7. Power Suits
Suits are still going strong this year, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been wearing suits for over 6 years now and they’re such a staple. The best part? They’re two pieces, so the mixing-and-matching potential is chef’s kiss.
I love pairing a blazer with jeans and sneakers, or wearing the full suit with loafers or boots. Whether you go for a classic black or something bold in color or print, a suit makes you feel put together in a second. Feminine, masculine, somewhere in between—this is a look that works for everyone.
One Last Thing…
As I always say—trends are fun, but they’re just trends. You don’t need to wear any of these if they don’t resonate with you. The most stylish people are the ones who know what works for them and what makes them feel good. Fashion should be joyful, not stressful.
Whether you’re pulling something out of your closet that’s been sitting for years, hunting through a thrift store, or investing in a new piece you know you’ll love for the long run—just have fun with it.
Let me know in the comments (here or on YouTube) which trend you’re most excited for this season!
