How to Balance a Full-Time Job & a Side Hustle

Balancing a full-time job with a side hustle can feel overwhelming, but with the right strategies, it’s absolutely possible to pursue your passion while keeping up with your 9-to-5 responsibilities. In my latest YouTube video, I share my personal experience and best tips for making it work. Watch it below:

Why This Video?

Do you have a full-time job but also want to start a side project, passion project, or even change careers? If so, I’ll share tips and tricks to help you balance your side hustle while working full-time—something I have a lot of experience with.

I graduated as a lawyer while also growing my blog, social media, and YouTube channel. For years, I juggled both before transitioning to content creation full-time. So, let’s dive into my best strategies!

Tip #1: Get Organized

This is the most important tip—without organization, balancing both things is nearly impossible.

How to Get Organized:

Batch Content Creation → If you create content, dedicate one day to filming multiple videos or shooting several looks.

Use Natural Light Wisely → Film early mornings or right after work if there’s still daylight.

Leverage Weekends → It may not be fun to sacrifice free time, but using Saturdays or Sundays for your side hustle makes a difference.

Theme Your Days → Dedicate different days to different tasks (e.g., Monday & Tuesday for designing, Wednesday for packaging, Thursday for emails, Friday for admin work).

Use a Planner or Google Calendar → Block time specifically for your side hustle to ensure consistency.

Tip #2: Use Your “Free” Time Wisely

You might think you don’t have time, but small moments add up!

How to Find Extra Time:

Lunch Breaks → Instead of scrolling social media, work on blog posts, reply to emails, or edit content.

Commute Time → Use subway/bus rides to brainstorm ideas, write captions, or answer messages.

Waiting Time → Even two minutes at the coffee machine can be used to respond to emails.

Reduce Distractions → Cut down on Netflix, social media scrolling, or other activities that take up unnecessary time.

The reality: If you’re juggling both a job and a side hustle, you’ll need to make sacrifices—but it will be worth it in the long run!

Tip #3: Give Yourself Space & Breaks

While working hard is essential, burnout is real.

How to Avoid Burnout:

Take Breaks When Needed → If you don’t feel creative, step away for a bit.

Set Realistic Expectations → You don’t have to post every day—find a schedule that works.

Prioritize Your Well-Being → Make time for friends, family, exercise, and relaxation.

I personally struggle with taking breaks—I feel guilty if I’m not being productive! But I’ve learned that stepping away helps me come back stronger and more inspired.

Tip #4: Give It Your All

If your side hustle is something you’re truly passionate about, don’t stop working for it.

Mindset Shift:

Believe in Your Project → If you love it, you’ll find the time to make it work.

Hard Work & Consistency Pay Off → It’s not easy, but every effort adds up.

Stay Motivated → Remind yourself why you started and visualize your long-term goals.

Turning a side hustle into a full-time job isn’t easy—it takes dedication, effort, and patience. But if you put in the work, it can become your reality!
