Let’s be real for a second. You wake up, work a full day, get home, and somehow you’re supposed to also be building a blog, filming content, launching a brand, editing a podcast, or writing that dream book you’ve been thinking about for years? Yeah. Same.
If you’ve ever felt like there’s just not enough time in the day to go after your passion project while also managing your full-time job, then this post — and the video below — is for you.
Before I was doing content creation full-time, I was just like you. I graduated as a lawyer (yes, a lawyer!), worked the 9-to-5 (or usually, more like 9-to-7), and at the same time, I was blogging, growing my social media, shooting content, and chasing this creative life I knew I wanted more of.
And the truth? It was chaotic, sometimes exhausting, often overwhelming… but 100% worth it.
In this post (and video), I’m breaking down the exact steps that helped me build my side hustle while still keeping up with a demanding full-time job. Whether you’re dreaming of changing careers, launching your first creative brand, or just needing a creative outlet — these tips are for you.

1. Get Organized Like Your Life Depends on It (Because It Kinda Does)
Organization is everything when you’re working two jobs — even if one is unpaid (for now).
What helped me the most was dividing tasks across different days. I’d dedicate Saturdays to filming multiple videos at once, Sundays for photo shoots, and evenings for writing blog posts or answering emails. On good weeks, I’d even wake up before work to shoot content with natural light (bless summer mornings!).
I know, it sounds intense. And it was. But when your time is limited, planning is non-negotiable.
Pro tip: Batching content is your best friend. Film two or three videos in one go. Bring multiple outfits to a shoot. Schedule social posts in advance. Work smarter, not harder.
2. Steal Back Your Time (Even the Tiny Bits)
One of the biggest mindset shifts I had to make was realizing how much time I did have — but wasn’t using.
Lunch breaks? I’d grab my food and head to a quiet cafe to write blog posts or answer DMs. Commutes? I’d brainstorm content ideas, reply to emails, or even edit videos on my phone. I once answered emails while waiting for my coffee to brew in the office kitchen. No shame.
You don’t need a full hour to get something done. Five minutes here and there adds up fast.
3. Respect Your Limits, Babe
This one took me years to learn (and I’m still working on it).
You are not a robot. You are allowed to rest. You are allowed to skip a week of content. You are allowed to sit on your couch and binge Netflix without guilt. And honestly? You need to.
Burnout is real — and trust me, you can’t pour into your dream if your tank is empty. So if you need a weekend off, take it. If you’re uninspired, step away. You’ll come back with more clarity and energy to create.
4. Give It Your All (If It Truly Lights You Up)
If you can’t stop thinking about your side hustle — that’s your sign. That’s your reason to keep going.
No matter how tired I was after work, I kept writing. I kept posting. I kept chasing this dream because it made me feel more like me. And eventually, that side hustle became my full-time job.
Not overnight. Not without sacrifices. But with time, effort, late nights, early mornings, and a lot of coffee — it did happen.
So if you’re passionate about what you’re building, don’t wait for the “right” time. Just start. Use the time you have. Trust that it adds up. Trust that you can do hard things — even with a full-time job.
Final Thoughts
Starting something on the side can feel overwhelming. I know. But if there’s something calling you — a blog, a YouTube channel, a handmade shop, a writing project, whatever it is — I truly believe you owe it to yourself to explore it.
Even if it’s messy.
Even if it’s slow.
Even if you’re tired.
Your future self will thank you.
And if you ever need someone to cheer you on, know that I’m here — rooting for you, always.
Let me know in the comments (on the blog or under the video) what your side project is. I’d love to know what you’re working on and how I can support you.
With love,
Flor ✨
