Life Updates & Answering Your Questions: A September Q&A

Hey everyone!

It’s been about six months since my last Q&A session, and I thought it was the perfect time to sit down and answer some of the questions you’ve been sending my way through Instagram Stories. I love these opportunities to connect with you all on a more personal level and address the topics you’re curious about.

I filmed a video answering your questions (it’s a long one, so grab your beverage of choice before diving in!), but I also wanted to write up my thoughts here for those of you who prefer reading over watching.

How am I really doing?

First of all, thank you to everyone who checked in on me. These questions always warm my heart because they make me feel like we truly are a community here. I genuinely appreciate you all taking the time to see how I’m doing.

I’m happy to report that I’m doing well! 2021 has definitely been a better year than 2020 for me (and I hope for many of you too). With vaccines becoming more widely available globally, there’s a sense that we’re finally seeing the light at the end of this long pandemic tunnel.

Work has picked up significantly compared to last year, which has been a blessing. I know many of us experienced job insecurity or reduced opportunities in 2020, so it’s encouraging to see things improving on the professional front.

One of the biggest highlights recently was having my family visit me here in Europe. After so much time apart, it meant everything to me that they could travel from Argentina to Germany. We even took a holiday around Germany (which you might have seen in my previous video).

Looking at the big picture, I’m incredibly grateful for so many things right now:

  • Being healthy and fully vaccinated for about three months now
  • Having the ability to travel within Europe and Germany
  • Enjoying stable work and new opportunities
  • Seeing my family and friends in person after such a long separation
  • Knowing that the people I care about are healthy and doing well

So the honest answer is: I’m good, really good. Thank you for asking! ❤️

Starting Out & Feeling Discouraged

Someone asked about how I felt when I first started my blog, wondering if I also experienced that initial frustration when it seemed like no one was seeing my posts.

YES! A thousand times yes. And I want you to know that those feelings are completely normal. Starting anything new—whether it’s a career, a project, a business, or a social media account—is scary and often feels like shouting into the void at first.

Growing an audience takes time. It might take a year, two years, or even five years before you start seeing the kind of engagement you’re hoping for. That sounds discouraging, I know, but here’s my advice:

If you genuinely enjoy the content you’re creating, keep going. Focus on consistently producing quality content about topics you’re passionate about, and the audience will come. I’ve seen this pattern play out with my own blog, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

Even this YouTube channel was tiny when I started, but it’s growing steadily. I’ve watched creators go from zero views to hundreds of thousands of subscribers. They all started somewhere!

So please don’t get discouraged. The frustration is temporary, I promise. Keep creating, keep showing up, and things will improve with time.

My Travel Must-Haves

When asked about the five things I always take when traveling, my answer (as always) is: it depends!

But if I had to narrow it down, these would be my non-negotiables:

  1. My skincare routine products — Keeping my skin healthy and following my routine helps me feel at home no matter where I am.
  2. Books — Depending on the type of trip. If I’m sightseeing in a city, maybe not. But for beach vacations? Absolutely.
  3. My phone(s) and possibly a camera — Whether I’m documenting for YouTube or just taking personal photos, capturing memories is important.
  4. Headphones — Essential for listening to music and podcasts, especially during transit.
  5. My mouth guard and contact lenses — Not the most glamorous items, but my teeth grinding at night is serious business, and my contacts are prescription-specific, so I can’t just buy replacements anywhere.

Skincare Tips for Beginners

I’m actually working on a comprehensive skincare routine video that will dive deeper into this topic, but here are my top three tips for anyone looking to improve their skin:

1. Have a simple routine and stick with it

Rather than trying to follow a complex 10-step routine that you’ll abandon when tired, focus on consistency with basics. A cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and SPF used faithfully every day will yield better results than an elaborate routine used sporadically.

2. Wear SPF every single day

Rain or shine, cloudy or sunny—protect your skin with sunscreen daily. This single habit prevents premature aging, wrinkles, dark spots, and reduces your risk of skin cancer. It’s truly the most important step in any skincare routine.

3. Develop healthy lifestyle habits

The best skincare happens from the inside out:

  • Exercise regularly
  • Get 7-8 hours of sleep
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Don’t smoke
  • Limit alcohol consumption

These factors affect your skin just as much as (if not more than) the products you apply.

Life in Germany vs. Life in the US

Having lived in both New York City (for three years) and Munich (for two years), I can share my personal experience with these specific cities—though I should emphasize that they don’t necessarily represent the entirety of their respective countries.

New York is, without question, my favorite city in the world, so I’m definitely biased! What makes NYC special is that it truly never stops. There’s always something happening—work opportunities, cultural events, exhibitions, Broadway shows—the energy is constant and infectious.

Everyone in New York seems to be working toward their next big goal, whether that’s a promotion, launching a startup, or finding their creative breakthrough. This «hustle culture» is exhilarating but can also be exhausting. There’s an unspoken expectation that you should always be doing something productive or experiencing something new—relaxing at home can almost feel like wasting the opportunity of being in such a vibrant city.

Munich, by contrast, operates at a much slower pace. Work is important, but it’s not your entire identity. People leave the office at reasonable hours (4-5 PM rather than 8-9 PM), take proper lunch breaks (sometimes by the river!), and aren’t afraid to use their vacation days or sick leave when needed.

The city is quieter, with less traffic and noise. Life feels more balanced and less frantic. There’s no constant pressure to be achieving or experiencing something new every moment.

Neither approach is inherently better—it really depends on your personality and what you value. Do you thrive on constant stimulation and opportunities, or do you prefer a more balanced, relaxed way of life? Both have their merits, and I feel fortunate to have experienced both lifestyles.

Lessons from the Pandemic

This global crisis has taught me that nothing is guaranteed and that we should appreciate what we have right now.

The pandemic showed us how quickly life can change. Jobs can disappear overnight. People we love might not be there tomorrow. Travel plans and life goals can be put on indefinite hold for reasons completely beyond our control.

It’s reinforced the importance of living in the present and not postponing joy or meaningful experiences. If you’ve been dreaming of visiting a place, taking a class, starting a project, or telling someone how you feel—don’t wait for the «perfect time» because it might never come.

Life is unpredictable, and this challenging period has been a powerful reminder to make the most of our time and connections while we have them.

When Am I Returning to New York?

This is probably the question I get asked most frequently, and I wish I had a definitive answer for you! The truth is, I don’t know exactly when, but hopefully soon.

Right now, we don’t have plane tickets booked or our entire work situation figured out yet. We’re actively working on all the logistics as we speak, and while I’m hoping it happens sooner rather than later, I can’t give you a specific timeline just yet.

What I can say is that I’ll share updates as soon as I have concrete information that I can talk about publicly. If you want to be the first to know:

I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll have news about this big move back to New York very soon!

And that’s it for this Q&A! Thank you so much for sending in these thoughtful questions. They’ve given me a chance to reflect on everything from practical advice for content creators to deeper life lessons from the past year and a half.

If you made it all the way to the end of this post (or watched the entire video), thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support means everything to me, and I’m so grateful for this community we’ve built together.

Until next time, Flor 💕
