Welcome to New York (Taylor’s Version) 🗽

Welcome to New York, it’s been waitin’ for you…

In October of 2014, Taylor Swift’s album 1989 first came out.

I had met a boy just 6 months prior and we fell for one another, even though we both knew he was about to move abroad.

He lived in Portland, Oregon and I lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and New York was OUR place. The city where we would meet and dream about what our future could one day be.

“Everybody here wanted somethin’ more” and we certainly did, but we just didn’t know how to make those dreams our reality… at least not yet.

New York was our escape, the city where we would meet again and again, month after month, plotting, daydreaming, imagining what if…

1989 was an album we listened to, together, and also 6,830 miles apart. It was an album that in a way I felt described myself, this version of me of 2014, the one that was struggling, the one that wanted to find love, the one that wanted to one day move to New York.

Almost 9 years later a lot has changed.

That boy is now my husband, we have two daughters (one dog and one human), and New York is our home. We had our ups and downs, we moved away, we came back, we sometimes think of leaving the city, we sometimes feel like we could never do that. Some of our dreams became realities, some others we are still working on.

But you know what? I wouldn’t change anything, anything, anything.

We filmed these clips between October and December of 2014, and Tom, my then-boyfriend now-husband edited it as a sort of Christmas gift at the end of that year.

I originally shared it on my blog many years ago, but I thought it deserved to be re-shared, specially now that we have Taylor’s version of this song, and this album.

Anyways… really hope you like this video! 🥰

It’s a special one.
