Return to New York: New Beginnings in 2022

A fresh start in a familiar place

After my longest break from content creation since starting my channel back in October 2020, I’m finally sitting down to reconnect with all of you. What was intended to be a brief hiatus somehow stretched into months, and I can hardly believe my last video was posted in November last year. Life has a way of surprising us with its demands, doesn’t it?

Where I’ve Been

The past few months have been a whirlwind of transitions, overwhelming moments, and big life changes that consumed far more time and emotional energy than I initially anticipated. The weekly filming, editing, and posting schedule I once maintained with relative ease became increasingly difficult to sustain.

But here’s the good news: I’m back! And this post (and accompanying video) marks the beginning of what I hope will be an exciting 2022 for my channel.

Before diving into all the content I have planned for this year, I wanted to take a moment to share what’s been happening behind the scenes and reconnect with this wonderful community. For those who are new here — welcome! I’m Flor, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my little corner of the internet.

The Big Move: Back to New York

The most significant change (which you might already know if you follow me on Instagram) is that we’ve moved back to New York! This has been our dream for years — something we’ve been planning and working toward for so long — and it finally became our reality in late 2021.

Our transition happened in stages:

  • End of October 2021: We officially moved back to NYC
  • November 2021: Lived in a hotel in Jersey City for about a month
  • December 2021: I spent a month visiting family in Argentina
  • Late December 2021: Returned to New York just in time for the holidays
  • January 2022: Settling into New York life, enjoying the snow, and celebrating my birthday on January 7th

Being back in New York feels right in a way I can’t fully articulate. The energy of the city, even in the depths of winter, brings me a sense of belonging and inspiration that I’ve missed deeply.

New Year, New Hair!

If you watch the video, you’ll notice another obvious change — I got a haircut! After letting my hair grow for nearly two years (my last cut was in February 2020), I finally took the plunge.

This wasn’t just any haircut. Back in 2020, I made myself a promise: I wouldn’t cut my hair until I returned to New York. It became a physical manifestation of patience and hope during uncertain times. Now that we’re finally back, I celebrated by visiting my favorite salon, Fourteen Jay in Tribeca, where I’ve been getting my hair done for about five years.

The short cut with bangs (or fringe, depending on what you call it) feels like the perfect physical representation of this new chapter. It’s like I literally cut away the past two years and stepped into 2022 with a fresh perspective. There’s something so cathartic about a dramatic haircut, isn’t there? It’s not just about aesthetics — it’s about marking transitions and embracing change.

What’s Coming to My Channel in 2022

Now for what I know many of you are wondering about — my content plans for 2022! Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect in the coming weeks and months:

Munich Apartment Tour

The very next video you’ll see is a full tour of our apartment in Munich. If you’ve been following me for a while, you might know I have a tradition of filming comprehensive apartment tours right before moving out. I’ve done this with my apartment in Argentina, our first New York apartment, and now our place in Munich.

The Munich apartment tour is fully edited (it took months!) and will show our space completely furnished and decorated. You’ll notice I still have my long hair in that video since it was filmed before our move.

New York Apartment Hunting Series

After that, I’ll be sharing our entire apartment hunting journey in New York. This was quite the adventure — we viewed approximately 30-40 apartments during late October and November 2021. I documented much of this process and will be sharing tours of various apartments, insights into the current New York rental market, price ranges, amenities, and the overall experience of finding a home in this competitive market.

Returning to Sit-Down Videos

I’m also planning to return to more sit-down, conversation-style videos. If you’ve noticed the mountain of boxes behind me in the video, you might guess that I’m considering some unboxing content. While I’ve shared most of my unboxings on Instagram stories, I’m thinking about bringing some of that content to YouTube as well.

Reviving the Vlogs

For those who followed my Spanish YouTube channel, you might remember my weekly New York vlogs from 2016-2018. I’m seriously considering bringing back this format — showing more behind-the-scenes of my daily life, routines with Oreo, events around the city, friend meetups, and the general rhythm of life in New York.

Core Content Returning

Of course, I’ll be returning to the content pillars that formed the foundation of my channel:

  • Book recommendations (I’ve read so many since my last video!)
  • Content creation insights
  • Self-employment and entrepreneurship tips
  • Life advice and personal development

Looking Forward

This return to creating content feels both familiar and entirely new. The break was unintentional but perhaps necessary — a chance to reset, refocus, and return with fresh energy and perspectives.

I’m so grateful for your patience during my absence and excited to rebuild our regular connection through videos and posts like this one. This community has always been a space for honest conversations and shared experiences, and I want to keep nurturing that.

What content are you most excited to see? Are you interested in New York vlogs? Do you have favorite vloggers you think I should check out? I’d love to hear about your 2021 experiences and what you’re looking forward to in 2022.

Drop a comment below with your thoughts — this space is as much yours as it is mine, and your feedback helps shape the content I create.

Here’s to new beginnings, spontaneous haircuts, dream cities, and the adventures ahead in 2022!

With love, Flor.
